Transport Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Transport Manager to join a successful family run fallen stock business on a full time, permanent basis. Due to growth, you will be joining a welcoming team in a purpose-built office, within a rural location.

You will be jointly responsible for managing the complete planning schedule for the transport team (22 vehicles), along with another Manager. You will be leading and motivating the drivers daily, scheduling loads to and from destinations, as well as ensuring the most efficient use of the whole fleet.

As Transport Manager you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
  • Being the first point of contact for all drivers
  • Planning, scheduling, routing and tracking vehicles
  • Day to day operations of the transport team
  • Speaking with customers and building business relationships
  • Securing work for the following day
  • Managing and ordering fuel
  • Compiling work sheets
  • Overseeing and managing KPI reports
  • Assisting with the compliance of the Transport Department
You must be/have:
  • 3 years’ experience is a Transport Manager or Transport Planning role
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • Experience of problem solving
  • Previous route planning experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable with change and taking on additional tasks, as is needed by the business
  • Computer literate - MS Office particularly

You will ideally hold a CPC and HGV license

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am – 5.30pm and every other Saturday

Class 2 Driver

F. M. Caine & Sons are looking to recruit a Class 2 to work from our Fallen Stock Disposal facility in Knighton, Powys.

The following skills are essential:

  • Class 2 driving license.
  • Drivers CPC 

Please note that this role involves handling and collecting fallen stock animals from farms and bringing them back to our facility for processing.  You will also need to be involved in the humane slaughter of livestock.  Previous experience in humane slaughter and the possession of a Slaughter person's license (WATOK) would be preferable, but training can be provided.

Day to day duties include:
  • Vehicle checks and basic maintenance
  • Collecting fallen stock from farms or producers, and transferring them to our facility
  • Humane slaughter of livestock
  • Other general duties

Hours are 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday, plus overtime.  Some flexibility will be required as finish times may vary, depending on work load. 40 hours per week + overtime
